still in my 20's

I'm still in my 20's for eighteen more days. I want to shout from the rooftop 'I'M 29!!!' I do try to bring it up as much as possible in conversation and I become giddy when I am asked my age.....I wish I would have thought to embroider it on all my shirts in the upper left hand corner to wear for the past year.

I was hoping to spend my big birthday in a big way but it seems it might be the most prosaic birthday celebration of all my 29 plus 1 years. I really wanted to go somewhere...not too far away but somewhere not in Michigan and check something off my LIFE LIST. However, I have to work nine hours that day and very sadly my husband will be out of town that weekend-I'm not gonna lie...I'm a little bummed. Especially because someone else gets to spend MY birthday with MY daughter, I hate that. After a long day of missing my baby I'm just going to hang out with my daughter that evening.

It's ok though, I've been dropping some very large hints about how next year I would like to spend my birthday in the most amazing city in the world *this would be yet another one of those subtle hints* and the mere thought of a fabulous trip next year has me very excited.

Braces-5 months

I cannot believe I've already had my braces for 5 months! It's almost half over!! They said 12-18 months, leaning towards the 12, and with my positive mindset and my agreeable teeth, I'm sure of its duration ending at the 12 month mark. So I think these puppies will be celebrating my 30th birthday with me but they will be off soon afterwards!

I am so happy with myself for finally going through with it, especially since the time has really gone by so quickly. I'm pretty used to them, I don't feel so self conscious any more-for 2 reasons 1. now I have braces on teeth that are actually pretty straight and 2. that heinous coil was removed months ago. The first month looked the worst but now I don't feel like they're THAT noticeable. My perspective has completely changed since I first GOT BRACES back in July. I am particularly proud of myself for this life list item because I wanted them for SO long (12 years of consultations) and I finally just ripped off the band aid! And it was so worth it!

My 29th Birthday

Today was my 29th Birthday-this has nothing to do with my life list necessarily but I especially like to post about holidays and celebrations because I think it's important to really give these days your all, look your best, indulge in all your favorite things, and be with those you love the most. Earlier this week I had an idea to try to do a life list item each day. I did try but I was so busy I couldn't really focus on it but I did do a zillion things to my house, which is all part of 'MAKING MY HOME MY SANCTUARY' so I was working on it.

How I spent my day...

Yesterday my husband and I did go out for drinks which I totally needed...but don't want again for a long time.

I woke up and realized that my daughter had not even one diaper to wear, and I had taken the car seat out yesterday. I was not looking forward to trying to figure out how to get it back in, get myself dressed, get her dressed and rush out the door. Luckily my dad called and was in the area and offered to pick up a pack of diapers so it was nice to have a visit from him and my step mom this morning.

Then I took my daughter for a walk in my favorite little town, it ended up being about and hour and a half walk, and it was nearly 90 degrees. Then, my husband took our daughter out to run errands while I picked up the house and got ready for our company. While waiting I met some of our neighbors.

My mom, brother and step dad were coming over as well as this Brazilian family of four I met few weeks ago. I met them at the playground at our former apartment complex - they hardly speak English, in fact the kids do not speak any English at all, and I am in love with this family!! And my daughter is enamored with the two children and they also just adore her. We were spending A LOT of time together before we moved and now I feel bad that she doesn't have her buddies to play with so I invited them over tonight. And it was just darling to watch her glow with her friends around, and show them all her new toys and areas of the house, it was really sweet. The poor little girl though, got a splinter on her hand while she was here and then I smashed her finger in the door. 

My family really enjoyed meeting the Brazilians and I'm sure they enjoyed meeting my family as we are practically the only people they know in this country! It was a good day- just a really good day.... but I have to say that of all my Birthdays I kind felt like this one was the most low key and the least fussed over, which is ok, I didn't feel entitled to anything really big anyhow as I've had so many great strokes of luck lately- I had said I didn't want a party on my 30th- I changed my mind- I want a HUMONGOUS party!

My Aunt gave me custom made stamps- I'll take a picture -they are so cool!

My mom gave cashola- I have been saving for a certain life list item that I will pick up on Sunday !!!!
My sister left me a message with a whole slew of people singing Happy Birthday to me-it was so sweet!

AND THE BEST GIFT EVER....A few days ago my baby started calling me 'MOMMY' instead of just 'Mama'  ---I've been impatiently anticipating this since the moment she was born! And it's WONDERFUL!!!

My Perfect Birthday

Well...3 months away from my 'big' Birthday (June 15th) - big in my mind because I feel like it only allots me one more year of being ridiculous. I had created my list for my perfect birthday three months ago... however,I don't care about any of that any longer, I have changed my mind- all I want is a 2 and a 9 candle---not even in a cake, maybe just stuck in some fruit. And maybe someone could tell me funny joke.

    I have decided that I do not want to make a big deal of my 30^th birthday, instead I would like the hoopla to be over my 29^th birthday as it will be a substantial year of my life and I would prefer to have grand memories from a b-day in my 20’s. Here are my 29 wishes for JUNE 15TH 2012, if some of the things on list happen it would be so nice but if they all happened, it would be perfect. Today is the 2 month mark and I will re-post this on the 15th of every month-this is ample time to make all this happen!
