Happy Valentines' Day

Having a daughter is so much fun, all those adorable stuffed animals, trinkets, jewelry and cards that I used to like to look at but had no reason to buy them...now I do and I love it! I love showering my little girl with holiday gifts, decorations, and activities. It is a true delight for me and I totally indulge in it every chance I get! We have a very fun filled day planned today so we actually decided to give her her gifts last night. I wanted my husband to be able to see her open her gifts and I knew I wouldn't be able to hold off until he got home. This was nice though because she got to enjoy them all separately and was especially surprised. I was surprised as well, my sweet husband got me a gift certificate for another massage which couldn't have made me happier....I love a good rub down! I surprised him too, I was saving money for his birthday gift and decided to give him a little now to save or get whatever he wants.

The treats for our daughter....

I got a yob!

"An unfulfilled vocation drains the color from man’s entire existence.” –Honore de Balzac

There's a business near my home that I recently picked up an application from, then I thew it in a drawer and didn't touch it for a month. Thursday I went to Craigslist for the first time ever and I saw that this same business was looking to hire a new specialist. They called me the next day and I had my interview on Saturday.

I was hired on the spot! The only problem is that they want me to work A LOT, and hours that do not work for me as being a stay at home mom is obviously my top priority- so I can actually only work on Saturday
( which was mostly what I was looking for anyhow) and she'll be home safe with her daddy which is perfect-I don't have to worry about her, and the two of them can have some daddy/daughter time.

Great hours, great pay, great position, great business, unbelievably good location and the owners seem wonderful...I just hope I live up to their expectations! I would really like to hold onto this long term.

The reason I decided to seek employment was twofold. As I've mentioned before we have a trip to Disney planned this year...and I also decided that this is the year that we WILL pay off ALL our debts. To do both of these things without extra income would not be feasible. So with this job, the 3 weddings I booked for the summer, and a new idea that I'm really excited about-there should be no problem getting out of debt and rewarding ourselves with a deluxe vacation to a top resort! (prepaid in full OF COURSE!)

Get out of my mouth!

I have had my braces for 7 months now...I am VERY pleased about the progress on my lower teeth...however....I went to the orthodontist 6 days ago and my mouth STILL hurts, I can only eat really soft foods and I'm downing motrin like a mad woman! I can't figure it out, they're basically straight...why is it hurting so much now? The science doesn't make sense, when my teeth were moving a lot in the beginning, it didn't hurt at all.

It was not a good appointment, the woman working on my mouth was ticking me off and then jammed my tooth and broke a bracket off! It hurt, it took an hour to fix, and I had the unfortunate pleasure of having the cement sanded off my tooth. Doesn't sound that bad? It was like a jack hammer was in my mouth, it made me so uncomfortable I thought I was going to pass out (which made me realize that I often get light headed when I'm having an adverse reaction to a situation.) On top of that my Dentist agreed with me that there has been no improvement on the top teeth over the past 2 months, NICE! You can't really see it in the pictures but the two teeth on the top are still not where they're supposed to be....but it certainly does look better.

Then when I was leaving...they told me that next time I come in, they're going "to start moving my roots". What the hell does that mean!?! Well, at least I have something to freak out over for the next 2 months.

Ok, moving on...I will say that I can feel my teeth really moving now! The top doesn't look better but it feels better, if that makes any sense. And I keep thinking about the fact that it was about this time last year that I started talking to my husband about seriously considering finally getting braces though I was really struggling with the idea...and now a year later I've had them for 7 months!

p.s. Thank God I'm already married...these are some horrific pictures of myself that I'm choosing to post on the internet! (Sorry husband)

10 fun things to do in Chile

My friend Shannon recently moved to Chile and I agreed to make her a Chilean bucket list...here are some ideas for her. To better understand why I'm doing this I would like to encourage you to read the poem I wrote her if you have not already and if you have I'm going to suggest you read it again HERE, because it's the best ridiculous poem ever written. Shannon has declared she will do everything on this list...so WHEN she does them I will do a little review and share her photos.

Darling Shannon, you have but 11 months left to...

1. get a snail massage

2. visit La Moneda

3. visit the Fonck Museum

4. visit the nude beach in Horcon

5. take a day hike on the Andes Mountains

6. swim in the largest swimming pool in the world

7. eat a calzone roto

8. learn to dance the cueca

9. see a Chilean rose

10. See the Atacama Desert

And as a bonus you need to get a similar outfit to the one this chick's wearing.

HAVE FUN!!

Have you been to Chile? What were your favorite things to do in Chile?

Sesame Street Live at the Fox

I am lucky enough to have a 'hook up' at PBS who offered us free tickets to Sesame Street Live at the stunning Fox Theater in downtown Detroit. Obviously my 2 year daughter LOVES Sesame Street so we jumped at this! It was a wonderful show, Z had a great time dancing and shouting words of encouragement to the characters on the stage "Good Job Ritos!" (Rosita) "Hi Abby!" "Dance Elmo!" It was adorable and heart warming. My daughter is my favorite thing in the world...my second favorite thing is seeing her smile. It was just a fun, family night. I couldn't get any pics of the characters which is ok since we've been to Sesame Place 3 times and have lots of pictures not just of the characters but of Z hugging them! I wanted to share my pics of the gallant Fox Theater because it really is the jewel of Detroit in my opinion and the wonder of the interior of this building is never lost, so I wanted to share some of my pics with you....I promise I'm going to get a better camera soon! When we walked in my sweet little girl said "wow it's amazing" which made me laugh because I must say that a lot! And it was too cute. Then I showed the Brazilians the pics and the mom said "it's like a castle". Sesame Street Live tickets are very affordable, and the show is the perfect amount of time for little kids: the first act is 40 minutes, 15 minute intermission, then the second half is only 20 minutes. Parents I think it's a wonderful show to take your kids to especially in these cold months, it's a nice outing.
